First edition of Togo Math Camp

First edition of Togo Math Camp

The Center for Research and Opinion Polls (CROP) in collaboration with African Scientific Integration (AScIN) and Supporting African Maths Initiatives (SAMI) launched the first edition of Maths Camp (MC), the 2019 edition in the city of Aného with a team of five national volunteers and twelve international volunteers.

The Maths Camp brings together, in a collective and playful learning environment, national and international participants and volunteers who explore rich ideas in mathematics that are for the most part not taught in secondary schools. The MC is organized around the resolution of small mathematical problems and puzzles, sports and educational activities, games and workshops that allow participants to discover and immerse themselves in the applications of mathematics in the real world.

After a week of preparation for national and international volunteers from August 5 to 10, 2019, the camp took place from August 12 to August 17, 2019 in a friendly setting.

The Maths camp is officially launched in Togo, which becomes one of the hosts of this initiative. Students who have participated in this camp return home with new perspectives and a new approach to Mathematics in all areas. This edition is a success that portends many better experiences for young people in the years to come!
