⚖️ Justice in Togo: Between Traditional Remedies and Distrust in the Courts

Findings from the latest Afrobarometer survey reveal low levels of public trust in Togo’s judicial system. Nearly half of citizens turn to traditional mechanisms rather than formal courts, while perceptions of corruption and unequal treatment further undermine the credibility of state institutions.

Limited access to legal aid compounds these challenges, raising doubts about the ability of ordinary citizens to obtain justice.
